ABDUL AZIZ AL KHAYAT

Adul Aziz Al Khayat was born in Damascus, Syria, into an artistic family. He is the son of the Syrian composer and conductor Amin Al Khayat. He left his hometown in 2012 because of the war. Together with part of his family, he lived in Cairo, Egypt, where he completed his high school education, before moving to Germany in 2018.

He gained his first theatrical experience in 2018/19 with a student theater group in Marburg. From 2019 to 2023, he studied acting at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts, receiving scholarships from both the Deutschlandstipendium and the German National Academic Foundation during this time. In the 2021/22 season, he participated as an intern at Schauspiel Frankfurt.

In 2023, he received the Audience Award at the "Week of Young Actors" of the German Academy of Performing Arts in Bensheim for his solo performance of "A Bomb in the Heart" by Wajdi Mouawad (directed by Martha Kottwitz). After graduating, he worked freelance and appeared in productions such as "Momo" (directed by Christina Rast) at Schauspiel Frankfurt and "Gewässer im Ziplock" (directed by Bernadette Sonnenbichler) at Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus.

Since the 2024/25 season, Abdul Aziz Al Khayat has been a member of the ensemble at the Hessian State Theatre Wiesbaden. There he has played, among other roles, the title role in »Woyzeck« (directed by Stefan Pucher), Haimon in »Antigone« (directed by Michael Charkviani) and Romeo in »Romeo and Juliet« (directed by Charlotte Sprenger).

Under the stage name "Alrahal," he has been releasing his own rap music in Arabic, German, and English since 2020. His debut EP, "Bela Esem," was released in 2025. He has also developed and performed rap lyrics for productions by Stefan Pucher, including "Woyzeck" and "Leonce and Lena" at the Hessian State Theatre in Wiesbaden.
